Instant Braces - Santa MonicaAccelerated Cosmetic Tooth Straightening
At the time our patient presented in our office, she reported that she had researched the internet to find a doctor who could take care of her teeth and provide the cosmetic result she wanted that didn't look fake and fit her face and smile well.She had congenitally undersized teeth and peg laterals. Overall, her teeth gave her a more juvenille appearing smile... which she did not want. She also had some tetracycline stain and whitening issues that needed to be addressed. Her existing teeth were quite healthy and the patient had a good history of maintaining oral hygiene. Reconstructive treatments were not indicated. 
Traditional orthodontics were out of the question for her. She wasn't interested in long term treatment that is associated with treatments that are usually recommended by an orthodontist.Our patient's goal was to have normal looking, straight and even teeth that fit her mouth and her smile yet have a cosmetic or aesthetic appeal she knew was lacking. Dr. Muslin recommended a variety of restorative and bonding treatments that could provide different degrees of cosmetic effect and also degrees of orthodontic correction. The patient decided to undergo a treatment plan that is commonly referred to, in our office, as Instant Braces. The cosmetic result provides the appearance of having completed orthodontic treatment... yet is achieved in a matter of several days... rather than months or years. Custom Fabricated Feldspathic 3 Dimensional VeneersOur patient was interested in a ceramic veneer product that could be fabricated on a tooth by tooth basis, each created with differing properties of porcelain thicknesses and bulk. The patient had reviewed other patient case histories who had similar treatments... but for different cosmetic purposes.Consulting directly with the ceramist, the patient and Dr. Muslin, with the use of diagnostic waxup models, were able to define the physical properties needed for each tooth (especially the peg laterals) that would be needed for creating the orthodontic correction. 
The waxup models and use of veneer temporaries enabled the patient and Dr. Muslin to make the needed adjustments so the patient would have the exact dimensional harmony across all of the upper arch teeth that were to be treated.The adjacent post-op treatment photo shows off the cosmetic result the patient wanted. A juvenille smile changed into a very attractive an alluring smile that is sized proportionally to her mouth and lip structure. The appearance of undersized and apparent misaligned teeth (needing orthodontics) is no longer present. The premium grade of porcelain provided the basis for creating all of the natural color shadings that occur in teeth provided by Mother Nature, and therefore, appeared very natural looking. 
The lower teeth were Power Bleached, according to the patient's specifications, to the degree of whiteness desired. This patient defined whitening standard became the color and shading standard for the porcelain veneers and the overall, final cosmetic result.With proper oral hygiene and maintaining a watchful eye on food preferences that have the potential of staining even the best porcelain, the patient is assured of great alluring looks and a great smile that will last for years and years.
